Baranti – The Tranquil Gem of Purulia

Baranti is a serene tribal village located in the Santuri block of Purulia, West Bengal, gracefully nestled between Muradi Hill and Baranti Hill. A part of the Chota Nagpur Plateau region, Baranti is defined by its undulating terrain, scattered hillocks, and dense greenery, offering a landscape that feels both raw and refreshingly untouched. The centerpiece of this tranquil haven is the picturesque Baranti Lake—a 1 km long reservoir formed under the Ramchandrapur Medium Irrigation Project—surrounded by forested hills and flanked by the majestic Panchkot and Biharinath Hills.

Renowned for its peaceful ambiance and breathtaking natural beauty, Baranti has emerged as a promising eco-tourism destination. The vibrant Palash flowers that paint the village red during spring, the mirror-like lake reflecting golden sunsets, and the rich avian life make it a paradise for nature lovers, photographers, and bird watchers alike. Whether you’re looking to unwind in solitude, capture nature through your lens, or embark on quiet treks through the surrounding hills, Baranti welcomes you with its simple charm and soothing embrace.
